The undefeated (2-0) Atlanta Falcons open Week 3 up as big underdogs on the road against the (1-1) Detroit Lions.
According to BetOnline sportsbook, the Lions are favored by a whopping five points. That's even after their 37-31 overtime loss to the Seattle Seahawks in Week 2. Meanwhile, there is no faith in the Falcons, who beat the Green Bay Packers 25-24 on Sunday.
The Lions were able to pull off an exciting one-point win over the Kansas City Chiefs in Week 1, but being able to reciprocate that kind of victory–possibly without a handful of their offensive starters, including running back David Montgomery–is not going to be easy against a hungry Atlanta defense.
They'll also face a tough task against the Falcons offense that looks to be clicking both on the ground and through the air. In the win over Green Bay, rookie running back Bijan Robinson proved once again why he's a first-round pick and posted his first 100-yard game while Desmond Ridder finally connected with Drake London multiple times.
Sure, the Lions' run defense is one of the best in the league and has only given up a total of 172 yards, but they have yet to face a run-heavy offense that features a guy like Robinson.
