Just like every season, the Atlanta Falcons will look to perfect their roster ahead of each matchup.
This week, their focus appears to be on the offensive line, and for all of the right reasons.
According to NFL insider, Aaron Wilson, the Falcons worked out three offensive linemen on Monday: center James Empey, guard John Leglue, and tackle Jalen McKenzie.
Empey, 26, originally signed with the Dallas Cowboys as an undrafted free agent in 2022. Though, he spent last season on the Miami Dolphins. He recently had stops at the Tennessee Titans and Green Bay Packers, but never settled in.
Before entering the draft, Empey started 41 games as a BYU. His final season was cut short with a foot injury, which likely affected his draft stock. Empey has yet to see action in an NFL game, but if he joins the Falcons, they have no reason not to throw him into their rotation.
Leglue, 27, has also bounced around the NFL since going undrafted in 2019. He has made stops at the Denver Broncos, New Orleans Saints, and Pittsburgh Steelers, along with the Packers and Titans.
Leglue is known for his versatility and when injuries struck the Steelers last season, he played up and down the offensive line, making five starts.
McKenzie, 26, spent last fall on the Seattle Seahawks practice squad following a standout final season at USC.
McKenzie had a chance to compete for a legitimate spot on the 53-man roster as backup during training camp but ultimately lost the battle to Seattle's versatile rookie Anthony Bradford. Like Empey, McKenzie has yet to make his NFL debut.
We'll see if the Falcons decide to sign any of these three guys in the coming days as they prepare to take on the Packers for their Week 2 matchup.
