The Baltimore Ravens just secured one of their top defensive players for the foreseeable future.
Defensive tackle Broderick Washington, a former fifth-round pick in 2020, has agreed to a three-year contract extension worth up to $17.5 million.
Washington was entering the final year of his rookie deal. Now that he's been extended, Washington and 2022 third-round pick Travis Jones are the only defensive linemen the Ravens have signed beyond 2023.
During his first two seasons, Washington played in 22 games. However, he logged just two starts and had a combined 16 tackles. However, Washington not only played in all 17 games last season but he made nine starts and amassed 49 tackles and six pass breakups which is very rare for a defensive lineman.
The 315-pounder has his financial security, and now he can get back to stuffing ball carriers with a smile on his face.
