The Baltimore Ravens initially feared the worst when they watched Mark Andrews go down on Thursday with an apparent ankle injury.

Andrews left Baltimore’s Week 11 matchup against the Cincinnati Bengals after being on the end of a hip-drop tackle from linebacker Logan Wilson. Ravens head coach John Harbaugh said after the game that the veteran tight has what "looks like a season-ending injury."

Now, the Ravens are a bit more optimistic regarding Andrews’ ankle injury.

"My understanding is, in talking with our trainer and the doctors, wasn't as bad as initially feared," Harbaugh said during a press conference on Monday. "… It wasn’t as bad as it could have been. It’s cleaner than they thought, based on the MRI."

Harbaugh added that there "might be an outside chance" that Andrews could make his return to action during this season.

Andrews is set to meet with foot and ankle specialist Dr. Robert Anderson this week for more info on his injury.

With Andrews set to miss Baltimore’s upcoming road clash against the Los Angeles Chargers, Harbaugh is expected to call on Isaiah Likely to be the team’s starting tight end for the contest. Likely has recorded nine catches in 11 games played this season.
