Red helmets?! Could the Buffalo Bills be bringing back the red helmets?! While the fanbase is divided, the red helmets were used from the mid-80s to 2010, some of the Bills' best (and worst) years in franchise history.
Andre Reed, former Buffalo Bills legend and Hall of Famer, ignited the fanbase with a simple yet powerful tweet that could be an indication of things to come. An update that the organization has been hinting at for over a year now.
This all stemmed from a tweet from the official Buffalo Bills Twitter account that asked a simple message, "Is your Sunday a day of rest? Or is your Sunday like Stefon Diggs'…"
The tweet was quote-tweeted by Reed with a message that's quickly gone viral. "Sundays will be even sweeter with Bills wearing our throwbacks…#BillsMafia"
Recently, Dawson Knox and Greg Rousseau sparked a social media firestorm by posting on their Instagram story the retro red helmets. While this was just a promotion for Labatt Blue's new drink, Throwback Tea, which was to celebrate 50 years of the Bills' charging Buffalo logo, we may finally be getting the throwbacks fans have been clamoring for.
Just last year, Josh Allen went viral after walking out of the tunnel at practice donning a version of the red helmet. Over and over again the organization, in some way, has teased fans of its return.
With multiple teams across the league bringing back some form of their retro or throwback jerseys or helmets, could Buffalo be next?
We sure hope so.
