Aaron Rodgers sends Bills a strong warning

If you looked at the betting spread for this week's Buffalo Bills game (-10.5), you'd assume they're playing one of the worst teams in the NFL. After all, in a league as competitive as this one, double-digit favorites are scarce.
But that's not the case. The Bills are not facing Houston, Detroit, or Carolina, the teams that currently hold the top three picks of next year's NFL Draft. Oh, no, they're not.
They're facing the Green Bay Packers. They're squaring off against back-to-back MVP winner Aaron Rodgers. On the other sideline, Matt LaFleur will coach the team.
Not that long ago, you wouldn't have been surprised that was the betting spread for a Packers-Bills game. You just would've assumed that Buffalo was the underdog, not the favorite.
But that's the way things go when you drop three straight, which the Packers have done. What was expected to be a marquee game of the Bills' season is now expected to be a non-competitive match-up in which Josh Allen & Friends do their thing.
But it's not that simple, is it? That's Aaron Bleepin' Rodgers. We're just going to write him off like that? And by the sounds of it, a motivated one.
"I'm not worried about this squad," said Rodgers after the Packers' loss to the Washington Commanders. "In fact, this might be the best thing for us. This week, nobody's going to give us a chance. Going to Buffalo on Sunday Night Football with a chance to get exposed."
"Shoot, it might be the best thing for us."
Ultimately, the Bills are rightful favorites to win after the bye week. In every phase of the game, they're dominating. No NFL team is perfect but they sure get close.
Buffalo is #1 in overall DVOA, which measures each play's efficiency taking into account the context of each play (down, distance, etc.). They're the #1 offense and the #2 defense while also ranking as the #7 special teams unit.
Oh, and per Football Outsiders' schedule rankings, they've faced the sixth toughest slate so far to get there. But you already know all of that. The Bills are so good it's a Super Bowl or Bust season for them.
That being said, 'tis the NFL, and you shall not consider any game an easy one.
Right now, the Packers might not have the talent. Davante Adams is gone and there's not a clear #1 receiver as Rodgers continues to ask for the simplification of the offense. There are problems and big ones.
Yet, we're still talking about a Top 10 offense in DVOA, here.
"I think outside of (Aaron Jones and Allen Lazard), there are too many mistakes. I talked about simplification last week," said Rodgers. "It's just not winning football. It could be a totally wrong route, a wrong stem, or the release. We're just not good enough to overcome some of those things right now."
If this is THE week in which LaFleur caves in and gives his quarterback what he wants, the Packers might be one game away from figuring stuff out. A schematic answer here and there might be all it takes for them to bounce back and become the scary Packers again.
The Bills should walk into Sunday Night Football with plenty of confidence, as they're the team to beat in the NFL right now. But acting like the Packers are a piece of cake? Nah, I'm good.
