The Buffalo Bills got the news cycle off to a fast start on Monday when NFL Network's Ian Rapoport reported the team signed former Super Bowl champ Leonard Floyd to a one-year deal.
It's a move that makes a lot of sense for the Bills. Floyd is coming off his third straight season with at least 9.0 sacks and Von Miller is still recovering from the torn ACL he suffered back in November. Floyd is good insurance in case Miller's desire to be ready by Week 1 is just that – a desire.
At the same time, Floyd's addition isn't just insurance in case Miller is unable to go by Week 1. He can provide quality snaps on defense. It will be interesting to see if he's as impactful in Buffalo as he was in Los Angeles, however, because obviously, Aaron Donald isn't on the defensive line.
The Bills do have a stud on the inside of the defensive line in Ed Oliver, who was given a massive four-year, $68 million contract over the weekend. He's no Donald, but he can certainly get after it and Floyd should be able to form a nice tandem on the outside.
