Damar Hamlin's story is one that they make Hollywood movies about.

If for some reason you're unaware, Damar Hamlin is a safety for the Buffalo Bills who collapsed during a contest with the Cincinnati Bengals. Hamlin reportedly suffered from a cardiac arrest and needed to be resuscitated on the football field.

Immediately after the injury, the Bills Mafia and fans of the NFL started donating. An older GoFundMe had resurfaced that Hamlin had started asking for donations specifically for The Chasing M's Foundation Community Toy Drive. Additionally, donations started flooding into a separate charity set up by the Giving Back Fund. This was described as a nonprofit that helps athletes with charitable giving. ABC News described more about the Giving Back Fund and the charitable donations.

So far, they’ve given more than $9 million to a GoFundMe campaign and nearly a million to a second online fundraiser set up by The Giving Back Fund, a nonprofit which helps athletes and celebrities manage their charitable giving, according to Kelley Denny, a spokesperson for Hamlin’s charity.

Before Bills Mafia and other fans started donating, the GoFundMe was a little under $3,000 of the $2,500 goal. Needless to say, the goal was destroyed. In total, the page wound up reaching over $9M in donations while the Giving Back Fund had reached donations of just under $1M, which brings us to today.

The Buffalo Bills safety announced that the $10M that was raised is going back into his charity, The Chasing M's Foundation. When speaking to the AP, Hamlin described the main goal of the charity as improving the lives of young people.

Hamlin has continued to make headlines since nearly losing his life on the football field. In fact, the safety has been part of numerous measures to bring awareness to CPR across the country along with aiding in an effort to bring life-saving devices to every high school in the country.

While he is working on making his return back to the NFL, Hamlin is continuing to make an impact outside of football. The world has been keeping tabs on every update on the talented safety.

We have a feeling this isn't the last we are going to be hearing about Damar Hamlin.
