The Buffalo Bills dominated from start to finish against the Washington Commanders, once again showing they are one of the top dogs in the entire league and putting the league on notice.
With the victory, Josh Allen was able to put on another impressive performance, James Cook ran for nearly 100 yards, and Stefon Diggs surpassed 100 receiving yards yet again.
However, the most impactful part of the victory was what the defense and Terrel Bernard could do. The unit, as a whole, forced 4 turnovers and sacked Sam Howell nine times which was tied for the third-highest single-game total in team history.
What's more, with the victory, some impressive stats have come out that showcase just how dominant the defense has been of late. With Leslie Frazier leaving and Sean McDermott taking over for calling the plays on defense, it appears to be the right choice.
While the chart is a little skewed in how they are reporting blitz % compared to sack % and what they constitute as a blitz, Buffalo is shining with the most success in the NFL by far. For those wondering, Greg Tompsett from Cover One broke down how the information can be slightly skewed
Nevertheless, the team is firing on all cylinders and the biggest winner of this is Von Miller. Buffalo's defense shining gives him a huge boost before returning to the football field in that Miller won't wear the weight of the defense on his shoulders, he will just add to the success they've already seen on the football field.
With Miller being placed on PUP to start the year, he's going to be out for at least one more week and then it's anyone's guess on when he may return. Miller has posted workout videos, hinted at his return, and has been optimistic throughout his recovery.
Buffalo has found their identity on the defensive side of the football and we imagine Miller is more than excited to get back on the field and contribute.
