The Buffalo Bills are celebrating the success of a handful of players selected for the Pro Bowl. Stefon Diggs, Josh Allen, Mitch Morse, and Jordan Poyer were all chosen as first-team starters.
One of those players, Jordan Poyer, has completely reinvented himself during his time in Buffalo. Poyer had previously spent time with the Cleveland Browns before Brandon Beane and Sean McDermott brought him to the Bills.
The rest, as they say, is history. Poyer has been a staple to the dominant Bills' defense since his arrival. The tandem of Poyer and Micah Hyde has been a disaster for opposing offenses and the foundation for one of the premiere defenses across the entire NFL.
Poyer, in a recent interview, opened up about what makes the Bills different, and it's not exactly what you may think.
What makes this unusual is that Poyer talked about culture and the locker room. Bills Mafia knows all too well the importance of culture with Sean McDermott and Brandon Beane. The head coach and general manager have spent the past few years completely shifting the culture in Buffalo, turning the Bills into a championship-caliber team.
Poyer's response isn't a traditional one. Specifically, you will hear players talk about state-of-the-art practice facilities, team doctors/trainers, chefs, training regimens, etc.
Poyer, instead, focused on the aspect of the culture surrounding the team. The superstar safety discussed how the locker room has been a driving factor to the teams' success in making the postseason repeatedly over the past few seasons.
Jordan Poyer is due for a big payday this upcoming off-season. Brandon Beane and Sean McDermott should try to do everything in their power to keep this man in Buffalo.
He's exceptional on the field and arguably even more valuable to the community and his peers in the locker room.
Regardless of whatever happens, Jordan Poyer has cemented his legacy as one of the very best in Bills' history.
