The Buffalo Bills have found their unicorn in Josh Allen.
Another dominant performance from the franchise quarterback has Josh Allen firmly back in the MVP race.
Furthermore, Allen's performance garnered enough attention for the quarterback to once again win AFC player of the week honors.
While injuries have been a major concern with this team so far this season, there's another area that's even more damning and proves why Josh Allen should be in serious consideration for MVP.
Josh Allen has been able to put up historic numbers with not only a subpar offensive line but with receivers who are leading the NFL in dropped passes.
Team leaders in dropped passes
Stefon Diggs, Gabe Davis, and Devin Singletary are among the AFC leaders in dropped passes. Diggs has six dropped passes on 142 targets. Davis has six dropped passes on 77 targets. Singletary is sitting at four dropped passes on 48 targets.
Coming into the season it was believed that Gabe Davis would flourish as the WR2 and that Isaiah McKenzie would be the answer at the slot position. The sky-high expectations have been difficult to meet, to say the least.
So far this season, McKenzie has 40 receptions for 404 yards and four touchdowns while Davis has 42 receptions for 752 yards and six touchdowns.
Breathe, Bills Mafia
This isn't to point out any deficiencies in Davis, Diggs, Singletary, or any other receiver stats this season. Rather, it's to point out just how incredible Josh Allen has been this season.
Allen has a realistic shot at MVP this season and that's with the issues surrounding the team.
The Buffalo offense hasn't been firing on all cylinders yet this season, but there is still time to right the ship. The biggest area that can make an immediate impact would be fixing the issues with dropping the football.
Josh Allen has a cannon, and there are very few people on the planet who would be able to catch a football from the franchise quarterback.
With the playoffs in mind, it should be an encouraging sign of the success the team is having despite being the worst in the NFL in dropped passes.
Once Buffalo figures it out, the league should be scared.
