The Buffalo Bills safety, Damar Hamlin, has taken the world by storm.
After a traumatic injury in which Hamlin needed to be resuscitated on the field, the talented safety has since been in recovery in hopes of returning to the NFL.
Regardless, if Hamlin never steps foot on the field again, his legacy has been cemented. Hamlin's traumatic injury has turned into a life-altering update. The NFL made an announcement that will ensure Hamlin's name will never be forgotten.
Plain and simple, Hamlin's life will never be the same. His legacy will continue to live on through his own initiatives, after teaming up with the Red Cross, and now the NFL who claimed Hamlin is the inspiration behind a nationwide initiative.
The initiative, as reported by Tom Pelissero on NFL.com, is pushing states to adopt policies in hopes to prevent deadly outcomes from sudden cardiac arrest in high school athletes.
What's more, the NFL is working with all major sports on the initiative. Damar Hamlin's tragedy has turned into something beautiful across not just the NFL but the entire sporting world. The NHL, NBA, MLB, MLS, and NCAA signed on to The Smart Heart Sports Coalition which worked to send letters to governors in 43 states that haven't established best practice policies to combat sudden cardiac arrest deaths.
Damar Hamlin continues to be a beacon of hope. From nearly dying on the football field to now working on initiatives that will impact millions of Americans, he continues to defy the odds.
The Buffalo Bills' talented safety will be back on the football field sooner rather than later, we know that the moment he steps back on the gridiron will be electric.
Bills Mafia can't wait, and neither can we.
