The Buffalo Bills grabbed some headlines earlier this week. It wasnt by signing DeAndre Hopkins, though. Instead, Buffalo signed veteran edge rusher Leonard Floyd to a one-year deal. The Bills needed more pass rush help, and Floyd is a proven talent at the position.

Buffalo isn't a league leader in cap space, so they had to structure his contract in a specific way. It is heavily incentivized, and the deal looks different than your normal one-year deal.

  • Base Pay: $7 million
  • $500K for 8 sacks
  • $500K for 10 sacks
  • $1 million for 12 sacks
  • Maximum total: $9 million
  • 3 void years

Floyd has totaled 29 sacks over the past three seasons. For the Bills, he will be a major piece on their defensive line during a playoff push – alongside Ed Oliver, Von Miller, and others. He will have plenty of motivation to put pressure on the passer this season.
