The Buffalo Bills are adding even more talent to their defense as the team announced the signing of cornerback Cameron Dantzler Sr. on Wednesday.

The former third-round pick of the 2020 NFL Draft started 20 of 36 games played with the Minnesota Vikings in the first three years of his career. In that span, he recorded three interceptions, and 17 passes defended. He totaled 50 tackles in 10 games last year.

Dantzler signed a one-year deal and will join a Bills defense that certainly needs depth at the position.

Specifically, Dantzler brings a veteran presence to the team on the boundary. It's a young group of guys in Buffalo as second-year cornerback Kaiir Elam is a projected starter alongside Tre'Davious White. Christian Benford, also in his second season, is expected to be a significant part of the rotation.

Even that pecking order could be in question as every one of those three players had their ups and downs throughout the 2022 season. The Bills' cornerback depth chart is undoubtedly fluid right now.

Dantzler's 26 starts in a three-year career suggest he could be a darkhorse candidate to earn a significant role right away. Worst case scenario, he'll provide much-needed depth to avoid a crazy situation like last year's when the team fielded a UDFA in Week 3.

Whatever happens, adding somebody like Dantzler absolutely had to happen for the Bills defense.

In the former Vikings starter, the Bills are getting a cornerback who specializes on the outside having played very little in the slot. Last year, 473 of his 505 snaps came out wide, per Pro Football Focus.

The Bills released CB Kyler McMichael in a corresponding roster move.
