Players care about the Pro Bowl more than many NFL fans think they do. A recent trend by teams around the league recording the moment they tell their guys they've been voted as Pro Bowlers has shown us how much of an emotional experience that can be.
But some have a few thousand reasons to be even more excited such as Buffalo Bills safety Jordan Poyer. To be precise, he has half-a-million reasons why to be excited about being voted into the Pro Bowl.
As noted in the tweet above from ESPN's Field Yates, the Bills are paying Poyer $500,000 for making the Pro Bowl as part of an incentive in his deal. Po' Money, Po' Problems.
It is the first Pro Bowl selection for the former seventh-round draft pick and surely he wishes to miss the actual game as he hopes to be playing in the Super Bowl for the Bills. He won't be alone in that desire.
Poyer was one of four selections for Buffalo. QB Josh Allen, OC Mitch Morse, and WR Stefon Diggs also received the news earlier this week.
The Bills also earned four first-alternates with OT Dion Dawkins, TE Dawson Knox, and LBs Matt Milano and Tremaine Edmunds.
You can check out the rest of the alternates for the Bills in the tweet below by the team's PR.
This year, the Pro Bowl will look a lot different as the actual game will be replaced with a flag football event. The AFC coaching staff will be represented by Peyton Manning (head coach), Ray Lewis (defensive coordinator), and Mexican world-champion flag football quarterback Diana Gómez (offensive coordinator).
