The Buffalo Bills made the decision, just hours after their embarrassing loss to the Denver Broncos, to fire their offensive coordinator Ken Dorsey. This had been brewing for weeks as the offense couldn't get things corrected.
In recent weeks, Josh Allen and the offense just haven't looked right. You could sense the frustration in postgame interviews as Allen had opened up about the struggles and McDermott provided, on multiple occasions, some pretty brutal soundbites.
Nevertheless, the team is moving on from Dorsey and will instead go with their interim offensive coordinator, Joe Brady. With a short week ahead of them, we'll see how much Brady can influence the offense.
Hours after his firing, Sean McDermott opened up on the situation and what went down, revealing the truth behind the organization's decision to part ways in Dorsey's second season.
McDermott opened up on the urgency of the move, "Listen, there's never a good time to do it. In particular, on a short week, it just felt like this was the right time. Always want to try and do what's best for the team. I felt like this was needed right now."
Opening up on how tough it was to make the decision to part ways, "It was extremely tough. When a person, a coach like Ken, has been working as hard as he's been working it makes it doubly tough to share that news. Ken's a good person, his family are great people… They've helped us accomplish a lot here."
McDermott continued, providing an inside look at the reasoning behind the firing, "Just felt like it was time for a change. You know, we need to be a confident offensive football team and find consistent production, and that's really what it came down to."
Speaking specifically on the firing and who was responsible, that's when McDermott provided the truth about the firing, "The decision was made by me and me alone."
We'll get to see pretty quickly what the Buffalo Bills offense looks like without Dorsey as Buffalo has a short week to prepare for the New York Jets heading into town. Fingers crossed this move doesn't bite them in the butt.
