The Buffalo Bills are starting to make their final preparations heading into their second preseason game against the Pittsburgh Steelers.

In game one, against the Indianapolis Colts, Josh Allen nor Stefon Diggs saw any playing time. Sean McDermott confirmed neither would see playing time but it didn't stop Allen from taking over the game with his playcalling. If you missed the game, here were my takeaways from the contest.

Now, before practice, McDermott spoke to the media and gave an update about their upcoming contest against the Steelers. Starters are going to be playing for about a quarter and a half, including Allen.

The main issue here is the length of time the starters are going to be playing. Andy Reid rolled out Patrick Mahomes in their most recent preseason game, he absolutely did not need to play and the same could be said about Josh Allen.

Not surprisingly, social media was divided on McDermott's decision.

While it's nothing out of the ordinary, there is still fear of the franchise QB going down and getting injured in a preseason game weeks before the season begins in which the team has Super Bowl aspirations.

I totally understand that getting these reps in is important. Especially with second-year offensive coordinator Ken Dorsey looking to make some improvements from last year and tinker with the 12-personnel set. I wrote previously after Dalton Kincaid was drafted, about the organization's desire to run more of these sets. While the team is inching closer to a full bill of health, Allen playing in a meaningless football game for more than 3 snaps gives me bubble gut.

Personally, I don't really want to see Allen in the game. Yes, anytime I get to see number 17 throw the football I am more excited than a little kid on Christmas morning, but there's also a sliver of fear of what might happen. Allen has already gone down in practice multiple times and I would much rather the team load him up with bubble wrap and tell him that we'll see him once the season begins.

My dream scenario? Allen goes in for one play, launches a 60-70 yard bomb to either Stefon Diggs and Gabe Davis, walks off the field, and doesn't return until the regular season.

For now, we wait. Here is me knocking on all the wood around my entire apartment, hoping that the Bills can stay healthy with starters planning to play a substantial amount of time.
