The Buffalo Bills' offense has struggled in the past two contests. While Josh Allen has been able to find Stefon Diggs, it seems like everything else is falling a little flat. Against the Jaguars, nothing seemed to work as the running game couldn't get going, and then in the Giants contest the team narrowly escaped with a victory.
A much different story than a few weeks ago when the team was putting up points in bunches which included a dominant performance against the Miami Dolphins in which it seemed like the team could do no wrong.
Obviously, Sean McDermott is aware of the current issues with the offense and provided a candid response that many believe he could be taking a subtle shot at offensive coordinator Ken Dorsey. Now, McDermott has opened up saying there's zero consideration Dorsey will be replaced as a play-caller, but the comments from the head coach about the offense have quickly gone viral.
First, it was comments about the offense needing to execute to stay in a rhythm and how it starts during practice. His comments were furthered during the media availability in which McDermott gave even more information on what he needs to see from the team moving forward.
The head coach began with expectations and where the team should be currently, "We should know some of these guys and what they do best and the roles that they're going to play and the positions they're going to occupy for us. It's putting them in those positions so that we can be the best offense we can become."
When speaking on what he's looking for from the team moving forward, McDermott provided, "To get into a rhythm it takes a certain approach and a certain level of detail to get the execution we need so that you can get into a rhythm." He continued, "We just haven't had that level of execution and that's affected our rhythm. When you come off the field after an early third down or three and out it's hard to get into a rhythm."
The Bills head coach then went on to discuss how the team has all the tools at their disposal, how he's seen it in games like the Dolphins and Raiders game, and they just need to get back to that special formula on offense.
We're not even halfway through the season and McDermott is already answering questions on removing playcalling from Dorsey and needing to explain why he has faith in the offense. The subtle shot was followed with much more positivity, but not the greatest look this early in the year.
Luckily, the team does have Josh Allen and Stefon Diggs who are more than capable of helping to get this team out of the funk they are in.
Bills’ Josh Allen leaves no doubt with definitive injury update
The Buffalo Bills QB, Josh Allen, needed to get some X-rays after the victory over the New York Giants. Allen provided his own injury update just days later.
