The Buffalo Bills are snakebitten right now. A slew of potentially season-ending injuries on the defense has derailed this team. With Matt Milano and DaQuan Jones requiring surgery and their status to return is unknown, which was one week after Tre'Davious White was lost for the season, things aren't looking good.
Recently, Sean McDermott announced that Dawson Knox would require wrist surgery, and his timeline to return is unknown. Additionally, there was a scary incident against the New York Giants in which Damien Harris suffered a neck injury and needed to be carted off the field.
Luckily, Harris had movement in his extremities and was later released from the hospital and has been popping up on the injury report, though we all fully understand he's not going to be back in action anytime soon.
McDermott provided an update on Harris, and his outlook for the season doesn't look great. The head coach said that he was unsure if Harris would return at all this season, another crushing blow for the offense.
The portion of the video where he is discussing Harris' availability comes at the 9:00 mark of the video below.
When asked about Harris potentially returning for the season, McDermott provided a cryptic update that leaves more questions than answers, "We'll see, I don't know. I can't answer that one way or another right now I can't say yes and I can't say no"
On both sides of the football, Buffalo is out some key pieces which could be part of the reason for their lack of execution over the past few weeks. While Harris wasn't a gamebreaker and this is absolutely James Cook's' backfield, Harris going down removes an important piece of depth and a different runner from Cook.
At this point of the season, especially with the issues the team has had to get anything going on offense, missing a couple of playmakers and taking them away from Josh Allen is taking a step in the wrong direction.
Ultimately, we just want Harris to be okay and are hoping for a speedy and successful recovery. From a team perspective, it's another blow to an already decimated unit.
