One of the Buffalo Bills' biggest questions heading into this season was that of the middle linebacker position. In the same draft Josh Allen was taken, the team took Tremaine Edmunds, hoping he would be the future of the position.

With Edmunds joining the Chicago Bears, there was a gaping hole on the roster. Training camp was filled with even more uncertainty as Tyrel Dodson got a few starts in the preseason and appeared to have won the position.

Then, McDermott made the announcement that Bernard would win the starting job, and he's run away with it. Bernard has shined in just a few games thus far this season. It appears he waited for the Commanders' game to really show the league what he's made of.

Bernard wasted no time putting his fingerprints on the contest with 2 sacks and an impressive interception to start the contest.

The middle linebacker position may be a lock if Bernard can continue to play like this. What's more, Bernard is the first Bills LB in nearly 3 years to have 2+ sacks in a game, Bernard has an interception to boot.

An impressive beginning to what Bills Mafia is hoping to be a long tenure at the position. For right now, through one quarter, Buffalo may have found their answer at middle linebacker.
