The Buffalo Bills needed to bring in some reinforcements to a depleted defensive unit that's been plagued by season-ending injury after season-ending injury. With Tre'Davious White going down with an Achilles injury, the team needed to bring in some reinforcements.
Brandon Beane, once again, made a splash and brought in some much-needed help in that department as it was announced by Ian Rapoport that the Buffalo Bills would be trading for CB Rasul Douglas from the Packers.
Details of the trade have Buffalo getting Douglas and a fifth-round pick and Green Bay receiving a third-round pick from Buffalo.
Douglas, throughout his impressive career, has jumped around from the Philadelphia Eagles, a short sting with the Carolina Panthers before ultimately landing in Green Bay. Throughout his career, Douglas has played in 96 games while starting 57 of them. He has amassed 15 interceptions with two touchdowns and has added 354 total tackles and a sack.
Buffalo was looking for some help in the cornerback room after the team seemed to sour on former first-round pick Kaiir Elam, making him a healthy scratch for the majority of contests this season.
Douglas is a big-bodied corner with long arms and has zone experience, which will automatically translate to his success with the defense. The move immediately slides Dane Jackson back into a depth CB role for the Bills, paving the way for Douglas to play some meaningful minutes.
The veteran cornerback will be a great addition on the field, and off the field as he's shown throughout his time in Green Bay to be a vocal leader, something that Brandon Beane and the Bills front office love to have on the team.
Beane, once again, waited until the final moments of the NFL trade deadline to make a move that should immediately impact the roster. Welcome to Buffalo, Rasul Douglas, you're going to love it here.
Bills have unique advantage in potential bid for major trade
The Buffalo Bills could wind up being buyers at the NFL trade deadline. With that, the team could be moving away from young CB Kaiir Elam.
