Bills Mafia knows all about the big additions this offseason with Poyer re-signing, Dalton Kincaid being drafted and even division-rival running backs like Damien Harris signing with the roster.
However, one of the more under-the-radar additions to the team is that of undrafted free agent Jordan Mims. While Mims has a long shot to make the roster, going viral with Josh Allen is sure to help get his name out there.
The Buffalo Bills are currently participating in a voluntary camp. This is where years of hard work either pays off, or it's another obstacle in a lifelong journey of trying to make an NFL roster. Mims is doing everything he can to impress and be another contributor in an otherwise cramped running back room.
During practice, Allen went viral trying his hand at being what appears to be a cornerback. However, social media started humming about the player who was able to make the catch: Jordan Mims.
Mims' ability to track down and make a tough catch, even though it was practice, spread like wildfire across social media. The talented back went viral without fans knowing who he was as the main question being asked among fans commenting on the video was asking who had caught the ball.
The undrafted rookie out of Fresno State exploded onto the scene his senior year. Mims finished his final year with career-highs in rushing touchdowns, rushing yards, and rushing attempts. What's more, the big-bodied running back hasn't fumbled the ball since his freshman year in college. It was his success that drove Buffalo to offer him a three-year contract in hopes that he can shine in camp.
If Mims were to make the roster, he would almost instantaneously become a fan-favorite. If the talented UDFA can have a good camp and a stellar preseason, McDermott and Beane will do whatever they can to find him a spot on the roster.
If he can keep making highlight-reel plays on one of the best quarterbacks in football, we like his chances. AtoZ sports had Mims cracking the 53-man roster immediately after the draft and the first batch of UDFA signings came through. Let's see if he can pull off the Cinderella story.
