One thing is for certain, don't mess with professional athletes on social media. Buffalo Bills pass rusher Shaq Lawson, who's up for free agency this offseason, taught a fan that lesson, the hard way.

The beloved member of the team was quick to lash out at the fan, who called him out for the world to see. What started as apparent song lyrics transformed into something else entirely.

Immediately after posting the tweet, a fan quickly called out Lawson for his performance against the Bengals. Needless to say, Lawson didn't take too kindly to the slander.

Injury devastates team

The Buffalo Bills' pass rush since the loss of Von Miller has been less than ideal. While Buffalo was sitting in the top ten in terms of pressures before his unfortunate injury, they have since declined in a rapid way. Buffalo was towards the bottom of the league in pass rush success, and it showed in a big way during the Cincinnati Bengals playoff game.

Shaq Lawson, who spent time with the Jets and Dolphins before returning home to Buffalo, enjoyed an above-average season with the team in a limited role. The talented pass rusher saw success on the field due to injuries and never turned back. During the season, Lawson was able to get sacks against his former teams and made sure the entire planet knew about it.

Unfortunately, in the playoff game with the Bengals who happened to be without three offensive line starters, the defense wasn't able to feast and get to Joe Burrow. Outside of the offensive line woes, the defensive line was a big point of contention down the stretch this season.

Come home, Shaq

While Shaq Lawson is going to be a free agent, we're sure he would prefer to be back in Buffalo where he was able to revitalize his career.

The Bills Mafia, rightfully so, wasn't happy with a majority of the roster's performance in their playoff loss. However, these professional athletes are people too. While it hurt us as fans to see them lose, it hurt them much worse.

Don't poke the bear, especially on social media, the bear might bite back.
