Brandon Beane should pick up the phone and ask about OT Kelvin Beachum

The Buffalo Bills have a problem on their roster. Well, they have several, but there is one specifically I had in mind. It's not the middle linebacker position, although that makes us nervous. Rather, it's the situation with the offensive line.

Josh Allen needs to be protected at all costs. I previously wrote about the Bills 3 keys to success and they were all Josh Allen. From weapons to him limiting turnovers, but more importantly getting some protection up front.

Allen has been battered and bruised and plays hero ball much more than we'd probably like. While it's awesome seeing him scramble from defenders, and launch a ball off his backfoot for a perfectly placed touchdown, the offensive line needs to do a better job of protecting him.

That's why we propose Brandon Beane pick up the phone, call Arizona, and see what it would take to get OT Kelvin Beachum.

The Beachum situation is interesting in Arizona. We're months removed from when Beachum signed his two-year contract and there's been a shift in the organization in Arizona.

Just last season, Beachum played and started in all 17 regular season games and played 98% of the offensive snaps with 9% of the special teams' snaps as well.

Beachum is a valued veteran in this league who has started 48 games for the Cardinals since he was acquired in 2020. However, the team landed Paris Johnson Jr. with the team's sixth-overall selection who was widely considered the best offensive lineman in the draft.

Surely, they wouldn't pay Beachum big and then have him sit out, right? Well, Johnson quickly became a part of the Cardinals' offense and with the team's first unofficial depth chart, Beachum was on the outside looking in. While the team could keep him around as a swing tackle, more likely than not the organization could be looking to ship him off, and Brandon Beane should jump on that.

From Spencer Brown suffering another injury, although he's been practicing it's still a worrying update, to the more recent news I covered of Brandon Shell retiring, there are growing concerns that the offensive line just isn't as good as the front office would like them to be.

If Buffalo wants to take the next step and compete for a Super Bowl, they will need to do something with the offensive line, in my opinion. With the team firmly in their Super Bowl window, now is the time to act.

Beane hasn't shied away from big splashes before, and this could be exactly what the team needs to push them deep into the postseason in hopes to raise the team's first-ever Lombardi trophy.

Just make one quick phone call, get Allen some protection, and let's party like it's 1991 (minus the whole wide right thing).
