Buffalo Bills quarterback Josh Allen is having a fantastic season. The team is 4-1 and Allen is among the league leaders in almost every statistical category.
For 2022, Allen has 1,651 passing yards (1st) for 14 touchdowns (2nd) while completing 66.8% of his passes (7th) with a 78.5 total QBR (3rd). All while leading the league's odds on favorite to make it to and win Super Bowl 57.
Speaking of odds, there's no wonder why Josh Allen continues to maintain the top favorite spot to win MVP.
He was the preseason favorite with +700 betting odds. Lined up with players like Patrick Mahomes and Justin Herbert.
Now, his odds are even more in his favor. According to Vegas Insider, who updates their odds weekly, Allen is still the top contender. However, his odds have jumped to +200 after only five games.
The next closest player to Allen is Kansas City Chiefs QB Patrick Mahomes with +500. However, the rate Allen is on could land him in rare company.
He is on the same early, dominant trajectory as Tom Brady in 2010 and Lamar Jackson in 2019. The only unanimous NFL MVP's to date.
Both Brady and Jackson maintained top 5-10 rankings in all the major QB stats and landed with the number one seed in the playoffs. If the season ended today, Allen would fall in line the same with the Bills being the top seed in the AFC.
The Buffalo Bills overall offense is on a historical pace of it's own, so it makes sense the QB is leading the way.
QBs like Allen have had historical seasons before, but at the rate he's going, it is rare. Rare to only exclusionary company.
