Make no mistake, the Buffalo Bills are still very much in play for the AFC East crown.

The AFC East is the most tightly contested division in football at the moment. Miami is in first place due to owning the tie breaker over Buffalo. However, both the Bills and Dolphins sit at 8-3.

At the moment, the Bills have the edge over Miami, New England and New York (Jets) to win the division. Simply based on remaining strength of schedule.

Unfortunately for Bills Mafia, they’re likely only playing for the 2-seed in the AFC playoffs, despite a victory over the first place Kansas City Chiefs (8-2).

While Buffalo has a favorable remaining schedule, CBS Sports is documenting that the Chiefs have the easiest remaining schedule in the NFL. With a meager .371-win percentage.

Kansas City Chiefs Remining Schedule

@ Cincinnati Bengals (7-4)

@ Denver Broncos (3-8)

@ Houston Texans (1-9-1)

Seattle Seahawks (6-5)

Denver Broncos (3-8)

@ Las Vegas Raiders (4-7)

While a home playoff game or two are still very much in the cards, the road to Phoenix likely goes through Kansas City in the AFC. Where Buffalo is already 1-0 on the season.

If the Buffalo Bills really want revenge for how last year’s playoff game ended, they’ll need to reach Arrowhead. The good news will be this time that if overtime occurs, we know the Bills offense will get at least one chance.

The best way to make sure that happens is to force any playoff opponent to come to Buffalo. In the elements and outdoors.

While the top seed is likely out of reach, homefield through the first two weeks would be a very nice consolation prize.
