On Thursday Night, it all comes to fruition.
One of the stories of the offseason becomes a reality when Von Miller takes the field as a member of the Buffalo Bills for the first time. And if you feel it's taken a long time to get here, you're not alone.
As the star pass rusher himself reminds us in a powerful video recently posted by the team, this story began in 2011.
"It feels like this whole thing is years in the making," says Miller in the social media video posted on Tuesday. "I mean, if you go back to my Draft, I was supposed to be a Bill."
"It felt like all this time, Buffalo has been trying to choose me. But this time, the choice was mine."
In the video, Miller sends Bills fans (and honestly, the franchise itself) the most powerful message of the offseason.
"I know y'all carry a lot of pain. Wide right. The Music City Miracle. 13 seconds. Bruh. F**k it, burn it all."
And just like that, Miller reminds us what his signing was all about. Sure, it was mostly about getting to the quarterback with 13 seconds left on the clock in a do-or-die playoff game.
But in a much deeper way, it was about forgetting that those 13 seconds happened in the first place.
It was about the Bills adding a championship-winning, motivated fresh face forcing the team to move on from previous defeats. About letting a team know that history – at least in sports – shouldn't repeat itself.
"But it's really about more than me. It's about Buffalo. I came to Buffalo to be a difference maker," punctuates Miller. "For a fanbase that deserves a Super Bowl parade."
