Though reports over the weekend suggested that rookie quarterback Bryce Young was trending in the right direction, Carolina Panthers head coach Frank Reich wants everyone to reign in expectations.

When Reich spoke with reporters Monday, he detailed that Young is still taking it day by day, and the team will wait until Wednesday to make any decisions regarding the rookie quarterback.

“Don’t know. I Don’t know yet,” Reich said of Young's status. “We’ll see how tomorrow goes, and then Wednesday, I’ll give you an update then. But I know he’s done everything possible to try to put himself into position, too.”

News of Young's ankle injury came out following the Panthers Week 2 loss to the New Orleans Saints on Monday night football. He didn't participate in practice throughout the week. He was listed as inactive against the Seattle Seahawks in Week 3.

NFL Network insider Ian Rapoport said there is optimism that Young would be ready to go in Week 4. However, the Panthers have publicly remained more cautious with Young. The team suggested when Young's injury was first reported, that he could be out for two or three weeks.

Given Reich's comments, that doesn't look like it is changing any time soon. The Panthers ought to know more come Wednesday afternoon.
