What a stellar debut at right guard for Jenkins, who logged a 77.9 PFF grade in 31 total snaps. Jenkins’ performance ranked eighth among 74 offensive guards in Week 1.
He split time at right guard with Lucas Patrick, but it was Jenkins’ performance in the run game that set him apart.
He graded out as the eighth best run-blocking guard and held his own in pass protection, allowing just one pressure on 13 drop backs.
#DaBears Teven Jenkins was PFFs 8th highest graded offensive guard in Wk 1.— Quinten Krzysko – Butkus Stats On Tap (@ButkusStats) September 12, 2022
He allowed only 1 pressure, and 0 sacks on the day 8n 31 snaps. He ranks 8th in run blocking grade and 23rd in pass blocking grade among 74 offensive guards.
Drafted as a right tackle, Jenkins’ time on the edge didn’t go as planned which subjected him to trade rumors over the last couple of seasons.
However, he looked like a seasoned interior lineman against a fierce defensive front for the 49ers.
Though the play above went for a short gain, Jenkins’ looked as if he had played right guard for all of his life.
There was a lot to like in Sunday’s upset, but Jenkins’ performance has to be near the top. The Bears have to be pleased to see some return on their investment from the 2021 second-rounder.
