The NFLPA report cards made their return this week a year after debuting with eye-opening revelations, and the Cincinnati Bengals still have some work to with their GPA.
While they graded at or above B+ in training room, training staff, weight room, strength coaches, and head coach, they remain lacking in a few other categories.
One of their lowest grades belongs to their locker room, which was given a D+ by the players a year after it received a D. That D+ has a promising chance to continue rising in 2025.
Since the grades were tallied based on responses given during this past season, they do not reflect what is set to happen with the franchise this year. The Bengals are already one step ahead of their locker room grade.
Bengals are constructing a new and improved locker room
Last week, the Bengals announced via their website that a complete renovation is being done to their locker room this offseason, with the expected completion date happening right before Week 1
"The massive locker room renovation is designed to leave a space that won't be recognizable to the team that packed up after beating the Browns last month in the final game of the season. The project has already begun and involves overhauling ceilings, flooring, restrooms, and showers, as well as installing state-of-the-art lockers. The target completion date is Week 1 and until then players are using two adjoining locker rooms about 50 yards from the main one." – Bengals.com's Geoff Hobson
This is long overdue to be quite honest. Paycor Stadium, formerly known as Paul Brown Stadium, is entering its 25th year of existence and the Bengals' locker room looks practically the same as it did at the beginning of this century.
The Bengals have spent the last few offseasons making notable renovations to their home, including revamping the training room, the addition of coaches offices for Zac Taylor's staff, as well as several amenities for fans amid the concourses.
An improved and modernized locker room for its players is a natural step for the franchise, and should lead to an obvious grade improvement for that category.
