Week 3 has been the Cincinnati Bengals' saving grace the past few years, and 2023 ended up being no different. The Bengals got a much-needed 19-16 win on Monday Night Football over the Los Angeles Rams.
The win is great, and Joe Burrow experiencing no setbacks despite dropping back over 50 times is just the cherry on top. Burrow confirmed as much after the game.
The exact opposite occurred last week. The Bengals left the field with a loss to the Baltimore Ravens, and Burrow left it limping with a tweaked right calf. He was unsure of how he was going to feel entering the elongated week of rest and practice. His answers Monday night were filled with plenty of confidence.
"It's gonna be better this week than it was last week," Burrow said. "It just comes with time and rest.
"Throughout this whole week it'll just continue to get better and better."
That's the hope, but Burrow will still be considered day-to-day for the foreseeable future. It's the only way to navigate a soft tissue injury that could flare up on any given play. All they can do is go one week at a time.
Burrow got through this week squeaky clean. Bengals will take that win on top of the one that counts on their record.
Bengals would be immortalized by making the playoffs in 2023
More NFL history is on the line for Cincinnati following a second straight 0-2 start.
