More details have been released regarding the incident that occurred around Cincinnati Bengals running back Joe Mixon's Cincinnati home earlier this month.

At a press conference regarding the shooting on his property that hospitalized a juvenile on March 6, Hamilton Co. Prosecutor Melissa Powers states Mixon's sister, Shalonda, and her boyfriend, Lamonte Brewer, have been indicted by a grand jury.

Brewer has been indicted with felonious assault, tampering evidence, and two counts of having weapons while under disability. Shalonda Mixon has been indicted with tampering evidence, and obstructing justice.

Joe Mixon was seen carrying a gun on the property, but did not fire any shots. He will not be charged with any crime.

Mixon claimed he had been receiving death threats, and called the Bengals security team during the incident. He testified days later.

Mixon's agent, Peter Schaffer, released a statetment regarding the prosecutors decision not to indict his client.

"Joe had no intention to confront anyone, nor did he. He did not intend to threaten anyone, nor did he. He did not intend to shoot anyone, nor did he witnessed an individual carrying what appeared to be a rifle racing directly towards his property as the individual continued to bark instructions. When another individual discharged a firearm, Joe interceded to stop the person discharging a firearm.”

Mixon, a seventh-year player in 2023, was a second-round pick by the Bengals in 2017. He was involved in an unrelated incident in which he was originally indicted with Aggravated Menacing earlier this year in downtown Cincinnati. The charges were later dropped.
