The Cincinnati Bengals pounded the pavement last offseason to fix their offensive line, and one of the improvements was adding center Ted Karras.
It's worked out well so far as Karras started all 16 games for the Bengals in 2022 and helped them reach the AFC Championship Game for the second consecutive season. However, what happened on Tuesday when he made an appearance on the Pat McAfee Show was truly hilarious.
Karras talked about going to wrestling practice once in junior high school and realizing that he was too small at the time and needed to put on weight. He also mentioned what his father said to him.
"My dad took me aside in eighth grade and was like you know, you're kind of skinny, but you're super slow Ted, and you need to put on weight," said Karras, with McAfee and A.J. Hawk laughing simultaneously. "I actually gained 100 pounds in one year."
McAfee asked him what he did to gain so much weight over that time.
"I drank a gallon of milk before school every day for a whole year, every single day," Karras said he did during his freshman and sophomore years of high school.
Karras talked about how he grew four inches in that year in addition to his weight gain. McAfee said asked if it was just because of his milk diet that it happened, and Karras made everyone laugh again.
"Well, I hit puberty, too," Karras said.
Not only is he a solid football player, but Karras has quite a bit of humor as well.
