It's been nearly eight weeks since Cincinnati Bengals quarterback Joe Burrow suffered a season-ending wrist injury. It'll be a lot more than eight weeks until the Bengals will begin offseason practices.

There's hope that Burrow will be throwing when the Bengals all get together again in the Spring.

"We'll have to see," Burrow said in his end of season press conference. "I think I should be good by OTAs, but we'll see. Pretty early on really tell yet."

Joe Burrow wrist injury recovery time

It's another offseason featuring the Bengals' franchise quarterback working back from an injury, two of them being season-ending. Some may remember the more minor MCL sprain Burrow suffered in Super Bowl LVI that forced him to rehab a bit.

When OTAs have existed outside of Burrow's rookie year impacted by COVID-19, he's been a part of them. That's the expectation again this year.

Burrow had successful surgery on his throwing wrist on November 28, 12 days after the initial injury. A report from Cincinnati.com's Kelsey Conway revealed that his recovery time from that point would be anywhere between four to six months.

That would put him between the beginning of March and June. The Bengals held their first OTA session on June 5 last year.

It would be ideal for Burrow to start throwing earlier than that so he is practicing normally with the rest of the team, but if that's the worst case scenario, the Bengals would be thrilled. He'll have plenty of time to get up to speed before training camp begins in late July.

The Bengals may've missed the playoffs due to Burrow's injury, but at least the start of their 2024 season won't be impacted as such.
