It has been a long time since the Cleveland Browns won a season opener at home and they have a chance to change that today.

You have to go back to 2004 when the Browns last won their season-opening game at home. It was a 20-3 victory over the Baltimore Ravens to open the 2004 season. It’s been 19 years since Cleveland has been able to give their fans a home-opener victory.

Jeff Garcia was the quarterback for the Browns then, but he started just 10 games that season when they went 4-12. Luke McComb and Kelly McComb both made starts for Cleveland in 2004.

Cleveland did win their season opener last season, but it was on the road against the Carolina Panthers. Those are the only two games the Browns have won in Week 1 since 1998. It is an embarrassing number, to say the least.

They can change all of that today but it’s not going to be easy by any means. Cleveland is getting a tough Cincinnati Bengals team that is a serious Super Bowl contender. Quarterback Joe Burrow just became the highest-paid player in the NFL and they’re a team that means business.

If Cleveland can pull out a victory and start 1-0, they not only end the drought, but it could be a big boost to their confidence for 2023.
