An unfortunate play has resulted in the Cleveland Browns losing one of their own to an injury he could not afford to have.
Browns CB Denzel Ward exited early on in the game after taking a shot to the head from Baltimore Ravens LT Ronnie Stanley. Immediately after you could see Ward woozy and stumbling.
There was no flag called on the play and the only thing that will happen is a fine that the league will likely hand down to Stanley. You can clearly see Stanley leading with his helmet and spearing into the side of Ward’s head.
It appears that Ward will not return, as he does not have his helmet on the sideline. Mike Ford entered the game for Ward.
An unfortunate result for Ward, who has battled concussions throughout his career and is entering a dangerous point with the number he’s had. Ward has had at least a half dozen concussions while in the NFL. At some point you have to worry about his well being after football with all of the head injuries he has encountered.
