There has been a carousel at quarterback for the Cleveland Browns during the 2023 season.

When the Browns defeated the Jacksonville Jaguars in Week 14 by a score of 31-27, it was their fourth win with a different quarterback on the campaign. There have only been seven teams to win with four different quarterbacks in a season since 1950.

Joe Flacco stepped in and made his second start for the Browns and the 38-year-old led them to a win. Flacco tossed three touchdowns and threw for 311 yards and completed 26-of-45 passes.

Cleveland now sits at 8-5 on the season and holds onto a wildcard playoff spot. By defeating the Jaguars, the Browns did themselves a favor by beating an AFC team.

If you said at the beginning of the year that Flacco would appear in a Browns uniform this season, people would have thought you were crazy. But after signing him a few weeks ago, he’s now won a game with a team that he abused for so long when he played with the Baltimore Ravens.

Deshaun Watson started the season and injuries derailed him. Things didn’t go well with rookie backup Dorian Thompson-Robinson when he took over and the team brought up P.J. Walker from the practice squad and he beat the San Francisco 49ers. A turnover issue with Walker had the Browns giving the ball back to DTR and he beat the Steelers in November.

Now, it was Flacco’s turn. Beating Jacksonville was a crucial win for the Browns at home after dropping two games straight out west.
