Cleveland Browns are beginning Wednesday with some big changes.

According to Josina Anderson, the Browns have fired multiple coaches on the offensive staff. Offensive coordinator Alex Van Pelt, running backs coach Stump Mitchell, and tight ends coach T.C. McCartney will not be back with the team next year.

While head coach Kevin Stefanski calls the plays, it looks like he wants to bring in some fresh ideas for his offensive staff. Cleveland’s offense was 13th in total yards and 10th in scoring during the 2023 season. The Browns started five different quarterbacks in 2023.

Van Pelt had been with Cleveland since 2020 when Stefanski became the coach. Mitchell was kept from the prior staff and remained and has been coaching the running backs since 2019. Nick Chubb and Kareem Hunt have had Mitchell in their corner for about their whole tenure with Cleveland.

Despite Njoku having a career year with nearly 900 yards receiving, the Browns have moved on from McCartney as well.

Expect Stefan to continue to call plays, but the Browns very well could be making some new hires within the coming day(s). A bit of a surprising shake-up for the Browns’ coaching staff right after their 2023 campaign has ended.
