News of the second potential season-ending injury has come to fruition for the Browns today and it’s the fifth one in just a few days.
Backup DE Ogbo Okoronkwo will reportedly miss the rest of the season with a pectoral injury, according to ESPN’s Jake Trotter. It’d add another tough blow for the Browns this season.
Okoronkwo is Cleveland’s third edge rusher and was having the best season of his career. As depth, Okoronkwo has 4.5 sacks, 31 tackles, and 12 tackles for a loss.
In the last couple of days, the Browns have ended regular seasons for RT Dawand Jones, LT Jedrick Wills Jr., DT Maurice Hurst, and S Grant Delpit. It has been the trend of the season for the Browns, who still sit at 8-5.
Cleveland will rely on Alex Wright, Isaiah McGuire, and Sam Kamara to step up as pass-rushing depth. The Browns could sign other option(s) as well.
In the off-season, Okoronkwo signed a 3-year deal worth $19 million with the Browns. His season is done with 13 games played.
Kevin Stefanski said it will be the next man up for the Browns, who will try to pick up the pieces and make a push for the playoffs.
