Yesterday, the Cleveland Browns had three key starters go down with injuries in a joint practice with the Philadelphia Eagles.
The good news is none of them were catastrophic and only one player will miss any time at all.
Right tackle Jack Conklin is going to miss some time with a concussion, head coach Kevin Stefanski confirmed in a press conference on Tuesday.
It won’t be a huge detriment, as there was no way Conklin was playing in Thursday’s preseason game against the Eagles, either way. Instead, this injury gives players behind him an opportunity.
Rookie RT Dawand Jones has been exceptional in the preseason so far and he was able to get some work in with the starters on Tuesday. Browns' offensive line is set in terms of starters this season but Jones is showing he can be that guy to step up if needed.
James Hudson is the other option at right tackle, as he too was getting reps against the Eagles on Tuesday.
Myles Garrett and Denzel Ward are both okay following their exits on Monday. Garrett participated in individual drills despite a minor leg injury and Ward was full-go after an illness.
The good news it the Browns were able to stay primarily healthy during their two days of joint practice, it hasn’t been a common theme as of late.
Browns to start rookie QB Dorian Thompson-Robinson against Eagles on Thursday
A good opportunity for the young quarterback awaits.
