On Thursday, the Cleveland Browns made a roster addition that may signal bad news for a promising player.
Cleveland signed T Leroy Watson from the San Francisco 49ers practice squad to their active roster, according to a release from the team.
The signing of Watson comes while the Browns are unsure if rookie RT Dawand Jones will be able to go in Week 9 against the Arizona Cardinals.
Jones did not practice on Wednesday with a shoulder injury that he suffered in Week 8. Kevin Stefanski said he would see how Jones progresses the rest of the week before making a call on whether or not he could go.
Watson is 25-years-old and in his first season out of Texas-San Antonio. In 2022, Watson signed with the Atlanta Falcons as an undrafted free agent originally. Watson ended up spending all of 2022 and up until now with the 49ers practice squad.
Listed at just 6-foot-5 and 260 pounds, Watson is a bit smaller than your prototypical lineman.
The move allows some security for the Browns if their starter can not go and James Hudson has to start in Week 9.
Browns have 2 players they need to extend as soon as possible
Browns need to make a move to keep these players around.
