The appeal of one polarizing NFL Draft prospect already didn’t look all that great to the Cleveland Browns but he should likely be off of their board completely now.

T’Vondre Sweat is one of the most talked about defensive tackles in this draft class and the Texas product is a good player on the field that has some worries off of the gridiron.

In Dane Brugler’s draft guide, a couple of Sweat’s issues were highlighted that may have teams shying away.

Why the Browns shouldn’t look in the direction of drafting T’Vondre Sweat

Sweat is seen as a “party animal” and “class clown”, those are two knows that are following him to the pros. Sweat was recently arrested on suspicion of driving while under the influence and will now have to let that legal process play out.

There was already a risk in drafting Sweat, who tested very poorly athletically during the draft process, which makes you question the impact he can have in the NFL. The Browns already have one project at defensive tackle with Siaki Ika, who they selected last year. Cleveland can’t afford to have another project at the same position, let alone one they may need to babysit.

Without naming any players of the past, the Browns haven’t been shy in taking on players with character concerns. Sometimes it has been a nonissue, other times it did not work out. With the Browns not having a first-round pick in this draft, every pick means that much more. This draft class offers defensive tackles that would be better all-around fits for Cleveland.

Cleveland only has five picks in the draft and using one on Sweat would be a tough sell. If he were to slip until late in the draft following Round 5, then perhaps the Browns could ponder on the decision.
