Cleveland Browns might have just dodged a bullet in Week 2, as the Pittsburgh Steelers will be without one of their best players.
Pro Bowl defensive lineman Cam Heyward is expected to be sidelined for multiple weeks, if not longer with a groin injury.
Heyward suffered the injury in Week 1 against the San Francisco 49ers, a game that the Steelers lost 30-7. The Steelers have Armon Watts listed behind Heyward on the depth chart. There is a chance that Heyward needs surgery and misses extended time, for the time being, it looks like he will be out for at least four weeks.
Over the last two seasons, Heyward has a combined 20.5 sacks and is a huge factor in both the pass rush and stopping the run. Cleveland’s guards will have a lesser matchup against the Steelers, which should benefit the offense as a whole.
Cleveland will still have to stop All-Pro T.J. Watt and a talented player in Alex Highsmith, but the Steelers’ defense becomes lesser without Heyward out there.
Unfortunate circumstance creates early opportunity for Browns rookie Dawand Jones
Here’s a chance for the rookie to show he belongs with the Browns early on.
