The bad news is in for the Cleveland Browns that wasn’t all that unexpected.

According to Josina Anderson, quarterback Deshaun Watson will not be playing against the San Francisco 49ers in Week 6 due to a shoulder injury.

Watson suffered the shoulder injury back in Week 3 against the Tennessee Titans. Cleveland’s starting quarterback didn’t suit up in Week 4 against the Baltimore Ravens before the bye week despite saying he would two days before the game.

So far this week, Watson has not been able to practice. It looks as if Watson and the Browns are settled on letting the shoulder heal up a bit before he gets back out there. The timetable for a bruised rotator cuff is 2-6 weeks.

In his place will be P.J. Walker up from the practice squad. Walker will start over rookie Dorian Thompson-Robinson against the undefeated 49ers.

Now, it’s a wait-and-see game too when Watson will return to the field. The Browns play the Indianapolis Colts on the road next week.
