We don’t know if LeBron James truly is a Cleveland Browns fan, or if his fandom for the Dallas Cowboys is legit. But his latest talk includes the Browns trading for a star wide receiver.
In a post on X, the Browns were linked as a possible landing spot for Las Vegas Raiders disgruntled wideout DaVante Adams. James sent a reply with a GIF with the exact response all Browns fans would have.
Let’s get to the point quickly that the Browns aren’t going to be trading for Adams this season, even if Adams wants to go somewhere to win. Yes, Adams is a top-five wide receiver in the NFL that would make any team better right away.
Cleveland’s cap space for this season needs to be rolled over to alleviate the amount that they are already over on the cap next season. The Browns would have needed to move off of Amari Cooper before the season to make this possible. Additionally, they wouldn’t likely be resigning Donovan Peoples-Jones at any point.
It’s going to cost a hefty amount to pull the trigger and the Browns don’t have a first-round pick until 2025.
James will always have fans in Cleveland for what he’s done for the city. But he has false hope for a trade that would immediately shake up the AFC in a big way.
