Cleveland Browns general manager Andrew Berry wasn't ready to let his second-ever draft pick hit free agency.

The safety has agreed to an extension with the Browns, as was reported by Brad Stainbrook of 247Sports.

Some contract reports for the 44th overall selection in the 2020 NFL Draft have been in the ballpark of a two-year deal worth $24 million with $6 million in bonuses.

However, the official details of the deal are to be released by the team.

Delpit has had a mixed-result season for the Browns. He started hot, but his play in recent weeks has slipped.

Still, the 25-year-old safety has talent the Browns aren't willing to give up on just yet. It was believed the extension would come at some point during the season, and Berry decided that Week 14 was the time to get the deal done.

Delpit, after being drafted in the second round of the 2020 NFL draft, did not play that year due to an Achilles injury.

In 2021, he played in 15 games, starting in seven. Since then, he has appeared in all Browns games.

And what this estimated two-year extension proves is Berry is not ready to quit on Delpit just yet.
