Cleveland Browns fell in their second exhibition last night to the Washington Commanders, though there was plenty of good to take away from it.

The Browns fought through a nasty rain delay that forced fans to take shelter and eventually were able to get the game in.

Many starters played, while some decided not to give it a go.

There were a few players that stood out specifically for the Browns against Washington.

QB Dorian Thompson-Robinson

For the second straight preseason game, the rookie had it going. Finishing 9-of-10 passing with a touchdown was the stat line for Thompson-Robinson against the Commanders. He looked good in the pocket and used his legs when needed. DTR led the first touchdown of the game for the Browns when he found David Bell in the end zone. Thompson-Robinson has been impressive so far.

WR Austin Watkins

A guy I have raved about recently again led the Browns in receiving against Washington. Watkins continues to catch anything within his reach and made six catches for 71 yards last night. A sure-handed chain mover through the first couple of exhibitions.

S Ronnie Hickman

The undrafted free agent got an interception off of Jacoby Brissett near the end of the first half. Then, he jumped in front of a pass in the middle of the field for his second. Hickman perfectly played “center field” and went up and made a play when the defense needed to on the first interception. The Ohio State product certainly helped his stock in this one, since being deep in coverage isn’t his niche.

TE Miller Forristall

Forristall was just signed over a week ago and already made his presence felt. A guy that had been around with the Browns before, showed against the Commanders. Forristall had a connection working with Thompson-Robinson. The tight end room is pretty much set but Forristall makes sense to keep on the practice squad.

QB Deshaun Watson

Only getting one drive, Watson marched the Browns right down the field before it stalled near the goal line. Watson’s stats weren’t eye-popping, but he took what the defense gave him and look comfortable. Watson took off three times for 20 yards and completed all three of his passes. An excellent debut for the starting quarterback.

LB Jeremiah Owusu-Koramoah

Much of the starting defense was out there minus a few guys and the third-year linebacker was among the standouts. Owusu-Koramoah blew up a screen for a loss of a yard by shooting the gap and getting there before the blocker could. It’s things like that, that make JOK different than most linebackers when he’s at his best. Overall speed is a strength of his and it showed last night when he was flying around.
