When Kalen DeBoer joined Alabama as the new head coach of the greatest college football dynasty ever there were some questions about his ability to maintain the expected state of greatness in Tuscaloosa. Yes, he had won everywhere that he coached. And yes, he was just fresh off a trip to the national championship game with Washington. But could he recruit in the SEC?
The answer? It looks like it's an emphatic "yes" and his first recruiting cycle isn't even close to complete yet. DeBoer and the Crimson Tide have locked in three blue chips in the last 10 days to kick off the month of June. Can DeBoer actually put together a number one class in his debut season?
New Alabama Crimson Tide Blue Chip Recruits
Last week Kalen DeBoer landed a commit from his quarterback of the future in Keelon Russell, a fringe five star from Duncanville, Texas. Russell is certainly on trajectory to finish as a five star if he can win his third straight Texas high school football state championship.

Now, fresh off yet another crucial recruiting weekend, DeBore and the Tide have landed two more commits from blue chip recruits. One from star cornerback Chuck McDonald, and the other from massive interior offensive lineman Michael Carroll.
Chuck McDonald was a huge riser in high school recruiting last fall thanks to his incredibly technical play for one of the premier high school programs in the country, Mater Dei (Santa Ana, CA). He boasts great track times (under 11 seconds in the 100-meter dash), strong defensive playmaking stats, and is now a consensus top 100 player in the nation.
Michael Carroll also rose from high three star to clear consensus four star talent after last fall, adding some major size. Both his parents were Division I athletes and it shows. He should compete on the interior offensive line in year one for Alabama in 2025.
Where Alabama Ranks among top 2025 Team Recruiting Classes
After all of this reruiting momentum Alabama is now up to third place in the current 20252 team recruiting class ranks via 247Sports behind only Notre Dame and Ohio State. The Crimson Tide already have 11 four stars and one five star signed for next spring and the streak of commits should only continue.
If they can pull Ty Haywood (five star OT) or Derek Meadows (five star WR) here soon who are both trending towards the the Tide and a few other schools, DeBoer would potentially have the top overall recruiting class through the early portion of summer.
