Kalen DeBoer and the Alabama Crimson Tide are sitting in a great position to make the SEC Championship Game and College Football Playoff. However, not everything is just about 2025. DeBoer and his staff are also juggling building for the future by recruiting the best talent across the country.
One of those big targets is five-star blocker Maxwell Hiller. Hiller is the ninth overall prospect in the 2027 recruiting class, and the Pennsylvania native just stopped by Tuscaloosa again this past week. He showed up for another official visit, this time for the LSU game.
Hiller offered quite the praise for DeBoer and the Tide right after, and it seems as though Alabama is in pole position moving forward.
Maxwell Hiller gives Alabama Crimson Tide a promising recruiting update
“I’ve been to Bama twice now,” Hiller told Rivals. “The visit was amazing — couldn’t have asked for more. I got to see the campus again, talk to everyone, and see everything again. It was all great.”
Hiller entered the visit with high expectations, but Alabama managed to raise the bar even further.
“The atmosphere exceeded my expectations. It was great. Some of the highlights were talking to the players, talking to the coaches, and other recruits. Going around the tailgates was great too — everything was nice and I was really enjoying the environment.”
The Crimson Tide staff made it clear that Hiller is a cornerstone target for their 2027 recruiting class. Offensive line coach Chris Kapilovic has been instrumental in building relationships early, and Alabama has positioned Hiller near the top of its board. The Tide’s approach reflects a broader strategy for 2027: stacking elite talent across the trenches while maintaining their dominance in skill positions.
Alabama already holds early commitments from several blue-chip prospects, including a pair of top-50 defensive linemen and a dynamic wide receiver from Texas, signaling that this class could rival some of Nick Saban’s best hauls in recent memory.
“I got to talk to the coaches, and they’re all great,” Hiller said. “They all had great messages for me. Alabama is recruiting me hard and making me feel like a priority.” Hiller’s offer sheet reads like a who’s who of college football powers, and Alabama remains firmly in contention.
“Bama has always been one of my top schools. And that visit definitely just made it way better.” Next on Hiller’s agenda are visits to Tennessee, Maryland, and USC, keeping his recruitment one of the most closely watched storylines in the 2027 cycle.
