Alabama Crimson Tide vs. Georgia Bulldogs Expert Score Predictions: A rematch with implications beyond the SEC Championship
See who our panel is predicting to win it all in Atlanta.
It’s finally here. The 2025 SEC championship features a rematch of 2023 when the Alabama Crimson Tide narrowly defeated Kirby Smart and the Georgia Bulldogs by a score of 27-24, capping off Nick Saban’s dominant run in the conference with one final victory.
After a down year that saw Alabama be replaced by the Texas Longhorns in 2024, the Crimson Tide is back in the mix and looking for a clean sweep against the Bulldogs. Our panel makes their predictions on whether or not it happens.

I would be lying to you if I said I wasn’t nervous about this game as an Alabama alum and diehard. The team hasn’t looked great against their last three SEC opponents, while the Bulldogs somehow rebranded in the middle of the season.
The injury factor for Alabama also looms large, as question marks surround Josh Cuevas and Jam Miller, and LT Overton is already out. But if you can beat a team once in a season, you can beat them twice. I think Ty Simpson returns to form and I think the missing piece, the X-factor that makes the big play late: Ryan Williams. His quiet sophomore season gets ratcheted up in a game that may still be a must-win for Alabama’s playoff hopes. – Rob Gregson, A to Z Sports Alabama

“Alabama and Georgia are both extremely different teams than when they faced off earlier this season. Ty Simpson was red hot for the Crimson Tide, in the middle of his ascension to potential first round quarterback status. Star Alabama wide receiver Ryan Williams still remembered how to catch a ball and garner a target or two. Georgia, on the other hand, couldn’t generate a pass rush no matter how hard they tried as they averaged far less than a sack per game. Running back Nate Frazier was still struggling with ball security issues, and the wide receiver production for the Bulldogs was questionable at best.
Now? Not a single thing mentioned above is true. Ty Simpson has looked incredibly human lately, making mistakes and hesitating. Georgia’s pass rush has completely flipped the script and they’re gaining chemistry. Gunner Stockton has emerged as a Heisman Trophy contender, and Kirby Smart has his squad right where they need to be heading into the postseason. This game ended in favor of Alabama by a field goal last time. Georgia gets it done in the rematch, pulling off a narrow victory themselves. 27-24 Georgia over Alabama.” – Travis May, A to Z Sports College Football

“For whatever reason, Georgia head coach Kirby Smart has had an incredibly tough time against Alabama during his tenure. Kalen DeBoer, on the other hand, has had a ton of early success against Bulldogs. If you’re a believer in those types of mental blocks that teams can have, then feel free to cast your vote for the Crimson Tide this weekend. Alabama is a team, however, that has been playing with fire all reason.
With an extremely underwhelming running game, we have begun to see some inconsistency from Alabama quarterback Ty Simpson due to a lack of balance. I believe we see more of that on Saturday, and the Georgia run game shine through behind Nate Frazier. Alabama has also had a difficult stopping opposing offenses on the ground, and it feels like the difference in this one. Georgia will just need quarterback Gunner Stockton to make a couple key plays at the proper moments to come out on top.” – Ryan Roberts, A to Z Sports College Football
Alabama 27, Georgia 20
“Kalen DeBoer is 2-0 against Georgia since he arrived in Alabama, and I think that continues on Saturday. Alabama took advantage of early leads, and were able to hold off Georgia in both games. Alabama has only gotten better since it beat Georgia, and Ty Simpson will have his opportunites in the pass game. Simpson had 280 yards on Georgia in the first matchup, and Ryan Grubb needs to come out with the same mindset, and turn to the running game later on if the offense can build a lead.
Alabama’s defense has also gotten better since the first meeting, and Georgia had 227 yards on the ground against Alabama, and that won’t be the case, Gunner Stockton will be forced to make plays downfield, and I don’t see enough of that happening to beat Alabama. I have this one 27-20 Alabama, and they are a lock for the College Football Playoff as the 3 seed depending on how other outcomes turn out in other conference championships.” – Josh Taylor, A to Z Sports Alabama
Final Takeaways
Our staff is split on the outcome, but everyone agrees that this will be a close ball game that goes down to the wire. Win or lose, both teams should have done enough to solidify a spot in the CFP, but we will see how everything plays out on Saturday.
